Carli Lloyd says she will look back on her time at Man City Women with fond memories.
The midfielder netted three crucial goals in 11 appearances, including a strike at Wembley and two on the European stage – one of which handed Nick Cushing’s side victory at the home of eventual competition winners Lyon.
Lloyd has set off back to America to rejoin Houston Dash but declared she is open to a return to Manchester.
“I’ve had an amazing experience here,” she reflected. “It’s been absolutely fantastic on so many different levels.
“I’m super proud I could be part of it.
“Getting to compete in the Champions League was definitely something really special and playing at Wembley and winning that trophy was pretty surreal and awesome.
“I’m not closing any doors at the moment. I’ve had a fantastic experience here and really enjoyed it.
“I wish the team all the best. It’s going to be weird to move on and jump back in with my Houston Dash team but I’m looking forward to it.”
Lloyd and City narrowly missed out on the Spring Series trophy, finishing second to Chelsea on goal difference.
The 34-year-old added she enjoyed her first season in English football and expects the Blues to return stronger in autumn.
“I know City will be back and wanting to win next season,” she continued.
“I don’t think it’s frustrating [not to win the Spring Series]. Of course, we wanted to win it but the team can hold their head high.
“We did really well. There were a lot of matches crammed into a short amount of time but we came away as FA Cup champions and it was a bittersweet moment in the Champions League.”
Asked of her immediate plans, Lloyd replied: “I’m looking forward to continuing to get better and keep pushing my career as much as I can.
“Life is flying by – it’s gone by so fast.
“Before you know it, we’ll be in World Cup mode for 2019!
“Right now, I plan to go back to Houston and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
